A beautiful peacock adorns the front of the book, What has attracted me to look further into this book. And that became very joyfull for me, because I LOVE Delft’s blue!

.

The illustrations are based on Delft’s pottery, including a butterfly by Wilma Plaisier of
Delfts Plaisier: (photo’s by Delfts Plaisier facebook)

There are 35 illustrations, one-sided printed  on white and smooth paper. The paper is very firm, so you can use alot of media without problems.

I found it hard to choose which drawing I would colour first;  I find them all beautifull and attractive to colour in. .

I chose for this illustration because of the roses (love roses) and the shape.

I have used Koh-I-Noor Polycolor, Faber Castel Polychromos, Staedtler Ergosoft, Stabilo Original and  Prismacolor coloured pencils.  Velt-tips and fineliners of Staedtler and  Stabilo and a Posca marker.

All coloured great on the paper. Nothing bleed through.

Then I chose a new illustration and used watercolour pencils (Staedtler Karat).

As I expected it went very well. At most areas I used like 3 layers with water and it doesn’t give any probem. While it was still slightly damp, I’ve used fineliners. This went fine also. The paper didn’t get damaged or wrinkled.

After that I wanted to see how many water the paper good take. So I made the paper wet first with the purpose of letting some paint drop on the wet surface. But that was too much water for the paper to take. The paper got a little damaged.

So my conclusion for watercolouring is that the paper is suitable for watercolour pencils, when you use them dry and then with a wet pencil —pat dry in a tissue— . Make layers and let the paper dry between each layer.

I find this a beautiful colouringbook where you can use many media to colour.
Aspecially for Delft Blue lovers it’s a very attractive colouringbook.
